It is important in the recruiting process to take into account all your options. You might have grown up seeing the division I as the superior school, but it is essential that you consider other options too. If your dream school doesn’t work out then the great option to consider is Division iii football schools. Though schools are not as big as Division I and sports are not given much importance but still, they are certain criteria which make Division iii football schools an ideal choice.

Do you get recruiting materials from division iii schools?

There are no rules set by the division iii football coaches regarding sending you printed material. However, they can send you a letter saying that they are interested in you if they see you playing at a tournament in eighth grade. But if you look at division to coaches you will get to know that they have a lot of flexibility and can start sending you recruiting material as early as possible. Division iii coaches in most of the cases do not mail the athlete until their junior season. There might be some exceptions as well but if you see most of the Coaches follow the above mentioned rules. 

Do you receive calls from division iii coaches coaches?

Coaches at this level do not follow any rules as in the case of division i and division ii. Both divisions i and division ii follow certain rules and regulations. In division iii, coaches have no limit as to when they can call you or start calling you. If they want, they can call you everyday once you enter the senior level. Athletes can complain and file charges of stalking them which would be legal by NCAA rules. In most of the cases, division iii coaches start to call during summer before the start of senior year or during senior year. The main aim of division iii coaches of calling athletes is to build a relationship with the athlete and to get you on their campus.

Can official visits be made by athletes?

Yes, you can make an official visit and there is no limit to the number of visits one can make to each Institution. You will receive the cost of meals, lodging, transportation and entertainment within a distance of thirty miles from the school. You will get free tickets to a Sporting event, parking costs and allowed to work out when coaches are not around. You can make an official visit any time from the starting of the opening day of your classes during your senior year. 

Can unofficial recruiting visits be made?

You can make as many unofficial visits as you like because you are the one paying for them. So, if a division iii school is interested in you, they would bring you on campus as early as possible. 

Rules for division iii football playoffs

This season division iii football playoff will have a new rule which will be welcomed in Texas, Southern California and Pacific Northwest. With the start of this season, the conferences will no longer have the need to play in the first round of playoffs.
